Oscar’s custom dog figurine was created to remember a very special dog whose story has stayed with us.
“We rescued Oscar in 2016. He was a failed sheepdog and the farmer was planning to shoot him, so he came home with us instead.
I was lucky enough to have nine perfect years with Oscar. He came to work with me every day, so we spent almost every second of every day together. He was my soulmate.
Sadly, Oscar was diagnosed with cancer last year and lost his battle on 18 June 2025 — exactly one week after I gave birth to my son.
And now, my son has a very special middle name — Oscar. ❤️”
Oscar’s story is one that has stayed with us.
When we were creating his figurine, his owner especially wanted us to capture one of Oscar’s most recognisable little expressions — his tongue sticking out.
It wasn’t a standard pose or something carefully staged for a photograph. In fact, it was quite an unusual expression for a dog.
But that was Oscar.
A little bit goofy, a little bit adorable, and instantly recognisable to the person who had spent every day by his side.
The Little Details That Made Oscar, Oscar
Oscar’s story made us understand even more deeply why people choose to have a custom dog figurine made of an animal they love.
There are plenty of dog figurines you can buy. You might find the same breed, a similar coat colour or even a similar pose.
But you can’t buy another Oscar.
The way Oscar held his tongue out, the look in his eyes, the shape of his ears, and the colours and markings of his coat may seem like tiny details. Together, though, they are what made him unmistakably Oscar.
That is why we created his model individually for him.
Using his real photographs as our reference, we recreated his coat colours and markings and, most importantly, kept that wonderfully goofy tongue-out expression his owner knew and loved so well.
Creating Oscar’s Custom Dog Figurine from Photos
To us, a truly personalised dog figurine shouldn’t simply look like a dog of the same breed.
It should look like your dog.
Some people choose a custom pet figurine as a deeply personal and meaningful gift for someone they love. Others come to us after losing a pet who has been beside them for many years, hoping that a pet memorial figurine or custom dog figurine can help them keep something of that familiar presence close.
Of course, we can never bring back a pet who has gone.
What we can do is carefully look through the photographs they left behind, listen to the stories their families share with us, and recreate, little by little, those tiny details that only the person who loved them would truly recognise.
Remembering the Ordinary Moments
Perhaps one day, when you look at that familiar expression again, the first thing you remember won’t be the day you had to say goodbye.
You might remember the days they came to work with you, the way they looked at home, and all those ordinary moments that once seemed so small but now mean everything.
Just like Oscar.
He was once a sheepdog who was almost given up on. Instead, he found a home where he was deeply loved for nine wonderful years and became someone’s soulmate.
And now, his name has become part of a new life within the family — carrying that love and connection forward.
Some companionships come to an end, but love doesn’t.
That is what we hope to preserve in every custom dog figurine from photos we create — not simply what a much-loved pet looked like, but all the memories that come rushing back when you see them again.
So that when you look at it, you can still say:
“Yes. That’s my Oscar.” ❤️
